The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Romania – Great Britain marks a new chapter in the development of bilateral economic relations with the official opening, in Craiova, of its Branch serving the business community of Craiova and Dolj County.

The New Chapter, taking place on 4 November 2026, brings together entrepreneurs, company representatives, investors and leaders of the business community around a shared goal: turning Romanian–British cooperation into trade partnerships, investment and concrete opportunities for growth.

A new link between Craiova and Great Britain

Based in Craiova, the new Branch will support the development of economic relations between the United Kingdom and companies in Craiova and Dolj County, connecting the local business community with British trading partners, investors, expertise and international business networks.

Craiova has a diverse and active business environment, with approximately 21,500 active legal entities registered in the municipality. The local economy includes strong activity in transport and storage, health and social assistance, manufacturing, professional and technical services, hospitality, administrative and support services, information and communications, education, energy and other sectors.

The structure of the local business community also highlights the importance of small businesses, with 94.1% of companies having fewer than 10 employees.

The opening of the Craiova Branch represents an important new stage for the business community of Oltenia, creating a stronger and more direct connection between companies in the region and the business community of Great Britain. By bringing the Chamber’s network closer to local businesses, the Branch will create new opportunities for companies across Oltenia to develop international partnerships, access new markets, attract investment and exchange expertise with British businesses.

At the same time, it will provide British companies and investors with a direct gateway to the economic potential of Craiova, Dolj and the wider Oltenia region, encouraging long-term cooperation, trade and joint business development.

This new presence in Craiova is intended to become a practical platform for turning regional potential into international business opportunities and sustainable partnerships between Oltenia and Great Britain.

By giving easier access to trading partners, investors, expertise and international business networks, the Chamber aims to support companies interested in exporting, expanding internationally and developing strategic partnerships.

Six priority areas for cooperation

The Craiova Branch will focus its work on six strategic areas:

  • Automotive, engineering and manufacturing
  • Transport, logistics and infrastructure
  • Digital, information and communications and professional services
  • Energy and industrial development
  • Healthcare, education and professional development
  • Hospitality, tourism, agri-food and consumer goods

These areas will form the basis of sector initiatives and working groups designed to bring Romanian and British companies together around shared interests and joint projects.

Cooperation that creates opportunities

Our aim is not just to bring business people together, but to create settings in which meetings lead to partnerships, expertise informs decisions and opportunities become projects and investment.
