About the Chamber

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Romania – Great Britain is an organisation which seeks to help Romanian and British companies further their interests, expand their businesses and, more broadly, accelerate their development.

The Chamber acts as a representative voice for businesses in both countries and turns the ideas and concerns of its members into concrete action.

Founded to help bilateral economic cooperation grow, the Chamber has a strategic mission: to become the main platform for dialogue and the first point of contact for trade and investment matters between Romania and the United Kingdom.

Our Core Areas of Impact

At the Chamber, we build long-lasting economic ties between Romania and the UK through clear objectives, strong business representation, and impactful bilateral activities.

Main Objectives

  • Collaborating with institutions, associations and businesses to support joint initiatives aimed at promoting bilateral projects, and offering Romanian companies appropriate representation at business and trade events in the United Kingdom.
  • Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the diplomatic missions and consular offices of the two countries in order to promote bilateral business and economic opportunities, mutually beneficial cooperation and an efficient flow of information.
  • Encouraging and supporting dialogue between officials with a view to adopting the same or similar positions, or to supporting each other, in the international institutions and organisations to which the two countries belong.
  • Supporting the efforts of local authorities in Romania to attract investment from private and state-owned British companies in order to raise the living standards of local people.
  • Formulating informed opinions on, and offering solutions to, the issues on the agenda for cooperation between the two countries, and providing members with specialist expertise or advice so that they can carry out their economic and trade projects sustainably.

Representing and Promoting Companies

  • Representing and supporting the general interests of the Chamber’s members and of the business community engaged in bilateral economic and trade activities, in dealings with the central and local public institutions and authorities responsible for bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and with the international bodies of which both countries are members.
  • Promoting Romanian companies, brands, products and technology in the United Kingdom and encouraging Romanian exports, in order to balance trade between the two countries.
  • Promoting business and investment opportunities, and the business, economic and tax advantages that Romania offers through its geographical location and through legislation that encourages foreign investment.
  • Encouraging joint projects in scientific research and the exchange of advanced technologies, and promoting educational collaboration between Romanian and British institutions that teach business and economics.

Main Activities

  • Arranges for the Chamber’s representatives or members to take part in business forums, trade fairs and exhibitions, and in other events that the Chamber organises on its own or in partnership with other organisations, in Romania or in the United Kingdom.
  • Initiates, or takes part in, Romanian trade missions to the United Kingdom and, at their request, welcomes official British delegations and representatives of British authorities or companies to Romania.
  • Authorises its representatives to sit on commissions, councils and working committees dealing with bilateral economic cooperation, set up by public authorities and institutions and by other organisations in Romania and the United Kingdom; in these roles, the Chamber’s representatives act solely to provide impartial, professional and specialist expertise.
  • Organises the events and activities typical of a bilateral chamber of commerce in order to fulfil its purpose, mission and objectives, and supports activities, consultancy and services aimed at promoting and developing the bilateral cooperation projects of member companies or other businesses.
